Massimiliano Allegri says his men need to take heed of the errors made in this evening’s Coppa Italia first-leg semi-final reverse against Fiorentina and put them right at the first time of asking when Sassuolo travel to Turin on Monday night.
The boss was making no excuses after the Bianconeri surrendered an unbeaten record at Juventus Stadium stretching back to April 2013, conceding the Viola were the better team and good value for their advantage ahead of April’s return leg.
He claims his men will travel to Florence with a strong desire to wrestle the tie back in their favour and gain a spot in the final, although conceded it will be no easy feat against a side currently riding on the crest of a wave.
Speaking to the media after the game, Allegri said: “This result needs to make us sit up and take notice ahead of our next games in Serie A, which still isn't over. Now we’ll prepare for an important and difficult encounter on Monday against Sassuolo.
“Both teams played well in the first half, even though we conceded by allowing a guy to run 70 metres with the ball. We should have been more alert. After the difficult 10 minutes we endured at the start of the second half, we started playing again, but Fiorentina were smarter than us and deserved to win.
“We’ve got the return leg and we’ll give it a good go to reach the final, knowing it won’t be an easy task. Fiorentina are a fine team in a rich vein of form.”
