Allegri: We must always aspire to be the best

On the eve of Juventus-Frosinone, ahead of the Bianconeri's Coppa Italia quarter-final scheduled for Thursday, 11 January 2024 at 21:00 CET at the Allianz Stadium, Coach Massimiliano Allegri previewed the clash in his usual pre-match press conference.

400TH MATCH AS COACH

"My 400th match on the bench has an important value, I am very happy because having reached this milestone with Juventus is a great honour for me. And it is also a great honour to have in front of me two sacred figures of Italian and world football like Trapattoni, who I also had as a coach in Cagliari, and Lippi, to whom I am very attached on an emotional level. Tomorrow, however, the most important thing is to win the match, go through and reach the semi-final. When I arrived I didn't think I would experience this with Juventus, I'm happy and I remember every match with great affection, both the best ones and the most difficult ones, but let's not look at the past. I learned that here you have to look at what will happen ahead of you and not what happened before."

TEAM NEWS

"Chiesa won't be available. Today his knee was better, it's nothing to worry about and if everything goes according to plan, we will certainly have him available on Tuesday. Cambiaso is better, so we have Chiesa, Rabiot, De Sciglio, who is making his way back, and Kean all unavailable. The others are all available. Perin will play in goal, Gatti and Bremer will play in defence, then I have to decide the third defender between Rugani and Danilo. Locatelli returns to midfield, while Cambiaso and Iling-Junior are unlikely to be able to start on the wings. I will decide whether to let Weah and Kostić play. Both Vlahović, Yildiz and Milik are doing well up front. Tomorrow I will choose the two starters out of the three of them, but as I always say, the changes within the game will also be fundamental."

FROSINONE CHALLENGE

"Tomorrow is a once-off game, we play against a team that, in the last round, came close to making a comeback after losing 3-0 at home. It is a team that plays carefree, and for them it is a unique opportunity to reach the semi-finals. This is an important period, the Italian Cup is an objective, we need to play a serious game, with the right mentality, with the aim of reaching the semi-final. Frosinone scores goals in every match, creates many opportunities and won 4-0 in Naples, so we need to play a high-level match. Pressure? It's always there at Juventus. We have started an important journey, Juve dominated in Italy for ten years, it is normal that there are also other teams coming up. We have come from two years in which the team has changed, this year there are many young players, but we must always aspire to be the best, then there are the opponents in our way of course. Now let's think about tomorrow where a victory would take us to the semi-finals and then we will focus on the championship."
