After last weekend’s disappointing home draw with Celta Vigo, Atletico Madrid will hope to bounce back with a win when they travel to face Almeria this evening.
Diego Simeone’s men will also be out to break a club hoodoo at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterraneos, a stadium in which they have never tasted victory and the setting of a 2-0 defeat in last season’s corresponding fixture.
The hosts have four points on the board after recording a win, draw and defeat from their first three games of the campaign, but approach the encounter in buoyant mood following Saturday’s 2-1 away victory over Real Sociedad.
Meanwhile, over in Sweden, Malmo will be looking to put further daylight between themselves and second-placed AIK when they travel to Halmstad, who lie in the lower reaches of the table.
