Barbara Bonansea has been a Juventus fan since her childhood, and has gone on to become a legend with the club with 176 appearances, 82 goals, including the first in the club’s Serie A history, and no fewer than 12 trophies won (five league titles, three Italian Cup triumphs and four Italian Super Cups) with the club.
But her journey with Juventus hasn't finished - she has extended her stay with the Bianconere until 30 June, 2025. The forward took some time on the day of her contract renewal to discuss how excited she is about what lies ahead.
YEAR-EIGHT EMOTIONS
“Extending my stay at this club for another year is a wonderful feeling. Juventus is my home. That’s how I feel about it. I’m ready to start my eighth season here. There have been so many now…
"I do feel I have a good level of self-belief. I’ve developed so much there and while I’m delighted to extend my stay, I also want to do Juventus proud.”
SETTING AN EXAMPLE
“My personal targets have changed over the years, but the team’s always stay the same. Every season has been different for me personally. Over the years, my level of responsibility has increased in terms of interactions with younger players on and off the pitch. Now it’s natural to feel the responsibility to help and guide the girls through the early stages of their careers. I feel that desire more and more along with the responsibility to create a wonderful group.”
DREAMING BIG
“Over these seven years at Juventus, we’ve experienced really happy moments and others that have been more difficult. Ever since I first put this shirt on, my biggest dream has been to win the Women’s Champions League. I’ve always dreamt big and it’s important to keep doing that. We won the Italian Super Cup last season and I’d like to lift more trophies for the club.”
LOOKING AHEAD TO NEXT SEASON
“We'll be together and hope for more success. Football is about emotions and I see next season being full of them.”
