Showing no signs of letting up, Juventus Women recorded yet another win this weekend overcoming Pink Bari 4-0 thanks to goals from Arianna Caruso, Cristiana Girelli, Valentina Cernoia and Andrea Staskova,as they continued to maintain a two point lead at the top of the table.
Despite the comfortable win the hosts got off a bright start with Laura Giuliani forced into making a close range save within the first minute, then as a sign of things to come, a minute later, Valentina Cernoia hit the woodwork with a great strike. The Bianconere pressure soon told as after a quarter of an hour of play, a corner kick into the Pink Bari box fell to Arinna Caruso who controlled and volleyed in a spectacular stike!
It was a day of great goals for the Bianconere and 10 minutes later a clever long-ball forward by Cecilia Salvai found Tuija Hyyrynen unmarked in acres of space and the Finland international rolled across for Cristiana Girelli to tap home. Another 10 minutes passed and it was 3-0, Barbara Bonansea was fouled outside the box and Valentina Cernoia stepped up to curl an incredible left-footed free-kick into the back of the net.
Into the second half and the Bianconere kept the game at their pace but Bari goalkeeper, Paula Myllyoja had to pull off a wonder save to deny Girelli on the hour mark, as the number 10 went close again from substitute Maria Alves’ ball. A few minutes later and once more Myllyoja was called into action to deny Caruso a second with yet another great save. The Bianconere piled on the pressure late on and Bari just escaped with a last-ditch challenge on Lina Hurtig in the box 10 minutes from time. However, Hurtig wouldn’t be stopped and her low cross into the box found fellow substitute, Andrea Staskova and the Czech forward took two chances at goal to score Juve’s fourth.
Another fantastic weekend for Juventus Women, who now make it six wins from six!
