Rodrigo Bentancur received an early birthday present, as Uruguay claimed their first win in this year’s Copa America, that sends them through to the next stage of the competition, having defeated Bolivia 2-0 at the Arena Pantanal in Cuiaba.
Carlos Lampe turned Giorgian De Arrascaeta’s low cross into his own net in the 40th minute that saw La Celeste take a 1-0 advantage into the half-time interval, before a late Edinson Cavani header wrapped up the three points for Uruguay 10 minutes from time. Rodrigo entered the field from the substitutes bench on the hour mark to help see his side over the finish line.
Bentancur’s Uruguay are next in action on 29th June when they play Paraguay in their final group game. Meanwhile, back across the other side of the world in Europe, Juventus will have players in action tomorrow night when the Euro 2020 Round of 16 begins, as Aaron Ramsey’s Wales play Denmark and Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci, Federico Chiesa and Federico Bernardeschi’s Italy take on Austria.
