On the back of an excellent tour in the United States and a convincing first half in the match against the Next Gen side, Andrea Cambiaso presented himself as a Juventus player for the first time, having returned from a successful loan at Bologna last season.
What the Juventus shirt means
"This jersey carries a different weight with it, with all due respect to the other teams I've played for - I want to thank Bologna. Juventus is a great club, I hope to stay here for a long time. There are many good defenders in the team: Danilo, Gleison Bremer, Daniele Rugani, Alex Sandro, I can learn a lot of things from them, they have experience to sell."
His growth at Bologna
"Last season's loan at Bologna was very useful for my development. The previous year I hadn't played that often and at Bologna I improved in so many ways. I have to say thank you to Giovanni Sartori, and to the coaches Sinisa Mihaijlovic and Thiago Motta, I felt their confidence and I was able to play regularly and get better."
Systems and defensive plans
"I don't see a big difference in the change from a four-man defence to a five-man defence. In fact, I already played as a full-back at Genoa, and at Bologna there was a similar change at times during the season. Personally, I think talking about formations is quite outdated, by now we think in terms of space, according to the wishes of the coaches and the interpretation of the roles."
His path to becoming a footballer
"Playing in Serie D and climbing the ladder was very useful for me. I think it has made my character stronger, and made me even hungrier. There are a lot of good youngsters in Italy. I don't believe that teams don't play young players just because they are young, but instead because they are not ready. I took a different path and I think I learnt a lot."
Personal goals
"My goals for the season are to play as much as possible and to help the team to the best of my ability. I think I have a lot to improve. I don't feel like I have finished developing at all and I think I have to grow, especially defensively. I want to contribute by serving my teammates with a lot of assists."
L'impatto con mister Allegri
"The relationship with the coach [Massimiliano] Allegri is already very good. He's trying to teach me a few tricks of the trade. He's coached a lot of big players and so there's a lot that he can teach me. He has asked me to express myself as best I can, both on the right and the left, to help the team, to be more decisive by providing assists and scoring goals. As a child I played as a trequartista, but on the wings someone I've looked up to has always been Joao Cancelo".
