Sofia Cantore sat down to share her feelings after putting pen to paper on a new contract with the club. This is what she had to say:
A MATTER OF FAITH
“I’m proud of this renewal. Above all I’m proud of the faith that Juventus and Stefano Braghin have shown in me. Last year was the start of a new leg of my journey. I’m moving forward one step at a time and I’m sure this renewal will help me keep progressing. I certainly see myself growing over the coming years as I continue along this path. I’m happy that I’ll get to spend the next few years at Juventus.”
JUVENTUS CALLS TWICE
“I joined Juventus when I was 17 and in some ways I was ‘oblivious’ during my first experience here – I was very young. I’ve met some great players who have helped my development. Now I have a different awareness. I realise how important it is to be at this club. When Juve called me the first time I was training in Monza and I felt immense joy. I had the feeling I was taking a huge step. “The second time it was Braghin who called me directly. He’d already told me that I would return to the club but I’d got injured in the meantime and I was a little afraid that might create problems. However, they still had the same belief in me.”
CONSTANT GROWTH
“If I look back, I can see I’ve improved, as is only natural between 17 and 25. In between I’ve had two serious injuries – the first one especially – which made me change approach. I realised that to make it you need constancy. I changed my attitude to work. When you spend a long time on the sidelines, you have to overcome frustration – responding to that and working hard are experiences that help you grow.”
THREE WORDS
“Juve for me is… Fino alla Fine (Until the End). You feel that every day here by fighting and coming back from tough times, which is not a normal thing at a club that’s used to winning all the time.”
