Canzi, pre-Como: We can't wait to be in front of our fans again

Women’s First Team coach Massimiliano Canzi is expecting a tough second game of this new Serie A season as the Bianconere welcome Como in Biella for their first home fixture of the campaign on Saturday.

Kick-off in Biella is at 15:00 CEST on Saturday, 14 September.

SIGNS FROM THE GAME AT LYON

“We were up against a great team and we definitely didn’t play the best game that we could have. When that happens against a top team, you pay for your mistakes. It was the only friendly we’ve lost this summer, and it definitely showed us a lot about what our level of attention needs to be, and how we should set up defensively. We know that we cannot make mistakes against big teams.”

CONCENTRATING ON COMO

“I expect a really tough game against a team with a lot of individual talent, and whose organisation is their best weapon. I have a lot of respect for their coach [Stefano Sottili], and I’ve met him a lot as an opponent in my career. He’s also in his first year in women’s football, and you can see his impact on the team, it was clear in their opening-day win against a team who, on paper, were better than them. I expect a really tough game.”

DEBUTING AT HOME

“I went to watch the last home game of last season as a spectator. I’m eager to get the girls back in front of our fans, and it’ll be the first time for me. The girls are all looking forward to it as well, it’ll be a good occasion.”

DRAWN AGAINST PSG IN THE WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

We knew we’d face a tough opponent, and that’s the case. We’ll play a team who made it all the way to the semi-finals last season. Now, though, our focus is on Como, and then we’ll think about PSG. We’re only thinking about Como.”
