Coach Massimiliano Canzi spoke to the press ahead of Juventus Women First Team’s Serie A Matchday eleven encounter which will see the Bianconere take on Como Women in Lombardy. The match is scheduled to take place late tomorrow afternoon with kick-off at 18:00 (CEST) at the Ferruccio stadium in Seregno.
THE UEFA WOMEN'S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE JOURNEY
"We still remember the comments, when we were drawn against PSG in the Champions League second qualifying round, when everyone wrote us off. We earned our place in the group stage through hard work, and we have come up against great teams and stayed in the game in practically every match. Looking at the group standings, one might think that it was all negative, but in reality, we know that this is not the case. We have to think about our journey up to this point, which we consider positive apart from being eliminated. We have only been working together for a short time and it has certainly been a lesson for the future.
TOMORROW’S OPPONENT
"Como Women have won their last four matches and this is an indication of the amazing form they are in: it confirms what I said before our first match against them, which is that Stefano Sottili is an excellent coach, he has a track record that speaks for itself, and I was convinced that he would do very well at Como. Whoever thinks that the Lombardy team are easy to overcome are wrong: they are a team that is doing well, well-organised, that are compact and very difficult to face.
THE CHALLENGES OF THE MATCH
"It is a match that brings an end to a packed schedule during which we have played a lot of games, I can't say that we are at 100%, as is to be expected after playing every three days and not every six/seven. I told the girls: we will have to be good at shifting our mindset from a context like the Emirates Stadium in the Champions League to a league game, it’s essential that we are able to do that ahead of tomorrow’s important game. We have to be aware, and I'm sure we are, that tomorrow's match will be a very demanding one and we'll have to go into it with the right mentality. Matching Como’s intensity, and then showing our quality. I'm sure the girls have understood what kind of match it will be and as a result I'm convinced we will put in a great performance. We will be prepared for a tough battle against Como.”
