“It was a tough game, as we had expected,” Giorgio Chiellini said after the Bianconeri’s 2-1 win over Sporting.
“We conceded the first goal but managed to turn things around. Now we’ll go to Lisbon to play for a win that would put us in a good position to qualify.”
Chiellini is experienced enough to know that this Juve team can and must improve, but he’ll also be aware that their reaction this evening against the Portuguese opponents was a show of real character.
“It would have been good not to concede, but we won’t cry over that. It’s not bad luck – it’s up to us to react,” he said.
“We showed ourselves to be a team with different qualities, with the desire to get a result, and we ended the game with all our attackers out there.
“We need to find the right set-up – we know we’re not fully settled. Each of us needs to bring a little extra to the table and slowly but surely we’ll find that compactness and balance.”
