Yesterday Euro 2020 continued after an exciting start to the knockout stages the previous day. At 18:00 CEST in Budapest, Matthijs de Ligt's Netherlands took to the field against the Czech Republic. After a 0-0 end to the first half, de Ligt was shown red in the early stages of the second period for a last-man foul, the momentum turned in the Czech's favour as Tomas Holes gave them the lead on 68 minutes, before Patrik Schick wrapped up the game 10 minutes from time to seal a 2-0 win.
Later on, Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal played Belgium in Seville, where the game was decided by a Thorgan Hazard goal just before half-time that saw Belgium advance into the quarter-finals 1-0, and where they will face Italy on Friday in Munich.
In the evening the action again shifted to Brazil, where the Copa America hosts faced Ecuador in their final group game. Real Madrid's Eder Militao gave the Selecao a half-time lead in Goiania but Angel Mena levelled for Ecuador in the second half as the match ended 1-1 with both teams advancing from Group B. Danilo entered the field in the 49th minute, whilst Alex Sandro remained on the bench.
