Ahead of Wednesday's return leg at the Bernabeu, Real Madrid hosted an ever-important Madrid derby against cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid.
A perfect cross from Gareth Bale was volleyed home by Cristiano Ronaldo in the 53rd minute to put Los Blancos in front, but they were pegged back just a few minutes later in the 56th as Antoine Griezmann found some space in the box and beat Keylor Navas to draw level.
Incredible saves by Jan Oblak & Navas late on kept the game level, ending in a 1-1 draw.
The draw all but ends Atletico's title challenge with the rojiblancos now 11 points behind Barcelona with seven matches left in the season while Madrid sit in fourth place on 64 points, a point behind Valencia and four points behind Atletico.
