#EuroWatch ⎮Lyon win away against Metz

Eighth in the league standings and 25 points off table-toppers PSG, Lyon may not be flying high in Ligue 1 but they will still look to pose a threat against the Bianconeri on Wednesday. And they received a confidence-boosting win on Friday evening against Metz that will ensure they feel buoyed ahead of hosting the Old Lady.

The two teams met at Metz’s Stade Saint-Symphorien, in what was a battle of 15th place versus eighth. Dembele drew first blood inside first-half stoppage time when he converted from the penalty spot to make it 1-0. Rudi Garcia’s side held onto their narrow lead until Diallo drew level in the 82nd minute. He thought he had salvaged a point for his side, but he was then shown a red card and it allowed for Lyon to push for a late match-winner.

The decisive goal came through Aouar, who scored a goal in the 94th minute to secure a last-gasp victory and a morale-boosting three points ahead of the Round of 16 Champions League clash.
