Gaetano Scirea was born on 25 May 1953 in Cernusco sul Naviglio. Today he would have turned 60. We remember him every day but at times like this he feels closer than ever. Today we feel like we do every time we travel to Juventus Stadium. We can't help but think of him as we cross the walkway bearing his name, about how much more he could have given to Juventus and the world of football. The passion he always showed in his work but, above all, the example he set when he took to the field. On the rare occasions he addressed reporters, as soon as you had the chance to speak to him, you were struck by just how much of a gentleman he was.
When, on 21 November 2012, the walkway opposite the stadium was renamed ‘Corso Gaetano Scirea’, we produced a video, asking president Boniperti, his old team-mates and opponents to talk to us about 'Gai', telling us about the man and the champion. We think showing that video again today is the best way to remember him and send our love to Mariella and Riccardo.
