Ahead of tomorrow’s Super Cup final against Fiorentina, Coach Rita Guarino spoke to the media about the impeding fixture that will see the Bianconere go after the first trophy of the season.
“We thank the Federation, the Municipality and the Entella company for their hospitality. The organisation is giving merit and homage to this important appointment,” she declared in her opening remarks.
Guarino then touched on the Super Cup semi-final fixture against Roma, which was won in the 166th minute (in extra time) with a goal curtesy of Cristiana Girelli, before then declaring what is needed from her players in tomorrow’s final against Fiorentina: “Juve- Roma was a game with two faces. On the one hand a spectacle, on the other, a performance that conditioned our game a little. I am happy to play this final.
“Tomorrow, we mustn't make the same mistake of that in the semifinal, which we didn't approach well. The girls know what went wrong, they must not lack in belief. Every game is a question of mentality, even more so in the final. It will be a tough match, it will be necessary to give everything, and when the physical energy run out, we must resort to our mental one, in order to give everything.
“Fiorentina are never taken for granted. We start on an equal footing; we mustn't make mistakes in our approach and we must pay attention to details. What was done belongs to the past.”
The Bianconere have also been boosted by the presence of both Laura Giuliani and Valentina Cernoia in the tea, who return after having missed Wednesday’s dramatic encounter: “Giuliani and Cernoia are part of the squad and will be available for tomorrow. They have returned for all intents and purposes in the team.”
The Coach concluded by touching on the youngsters who formed part of the travelling squad: “The youngsters who are called up for this match train with the first team and are growing. It is important to invest in the resources we have. That with what we are building, we will put in their hands. It's important for them to gain experience.”
