Italy continued their unbeaten run in the Nations League with a goalless draw against England in Wolverhampton. Manuel Locatelli started in the centre of Roberto Mancini’s three-man midfield, while Bianconeri January signing, Federico Gatti capped off an unforgettable year with his international debut. The centre half, who completed the season on loan at Frosinone in Serie B, played the full 90 minutes at the heart of the Azzurri defence. Locatelli remained on the pitch for 64 minutes. The draw keeps Italy top of Group A3 ahead of Hungary and Germany, the Azzurri’s next opponents.
In Group A4, meanwhile, Netherlands came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Poland. No Juventus player was involved as Matthijs De Ligt and Wojciech Szczęsny were unused substitutes.
This evening, Alvaro Morata’s Spain take on Czech Republic in Group A2.
