Five Bianconeri were involved in international action on Thursday evening, as France, Poland and Serbia all took to the field in their respective European Championship qualifiers.
Arek Milik and Wojciech Szczesny both started Poland’s EURO 2024 qualifier at home to Faroe Islands, as a Robert Lewandowski brace earned the home side a valuable three points in their Group E encounter. The win helped the Poles move up to third place in the group, a point behind second-placed Albania who they face in their next encounter on Sunday.
At the Parc des Princes in France, Les Bleus continued their perfect qualifying record with a fifth consecutive win, earning a 2-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland thanks to strikes from Aurélien Tchouaméni and Marcus Thuram, with Adrien Rabiot putting in a solid 90-minute shift for his country. France sit comfortably on top of Group B, nine points ahead of second-placed Netherlands (who have two games in hand).
Dusan Vlahovic and Filip Kostic both started Serbia’s Thursday night qualifier against Hungary. Despite taking the lead, the Serbians suffered a 2-1 defeat at home, leaving them second in their group with seven points from four games.
