An unbeaten night for the Juventus players involved in international duty.
Starting in Europe, Poland raced into a 4-0 half-time lead away at San Marino, thanks to a brace from Robert Lewandowski, Karol Swiderski and Karol Linetty. With the game effectively done and dusted, Wojciech Szczesny was withdrawn at half-time for Lukasz Skorupski, and although San Marino pulled a goal back through Nicola Nanni, Poland finished off the tie with an Adam Buska hat-trick to win 7-1.
Alvaro Morata was unused substitute in Spain’s 4-0 win over Georgia, with goals coming from Jose Gaya, Carlos Soler, Ferran Torres and Pablo Sarabia. Whilst Dejan Kulusevski also didn’t get off the bench in Sweden’s 2-1 friendly win over Uzbekistan.
Elsewhere in Basel, both Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci played the full 90 minutes in Italy’s 0-0 draw with Switzerland. Federico Chiesa was a substitute in the second half, in which Italy produced their best chance of winning the match, as Jorginho’s penalty was saved.
Over in South America, Juan Cuadrado got on the scoresheet for Colombia, as his second half penalty rescued a point for Los Cafeteros in Paraguay, after Antonio Sanabria’s first half goal.
Rodrigo Bentancur played the first half for Uruguay as they ran out 4-2 winners against Bolivia, with Giorgian De Arrascaeta scoring twice, Federico Valverde and Agustin Alvarez getting the goals for the hosts, as a Marcelo Moreno brace pulled two back for the visitors.
