International Recap | Weah strikes helps USA into semis

Another day, and another Juventus player on target for his national team, with Timothy Weah carrying his fine club form onto the international stage in Monday night's win for Team USA.

Starting in St Louis, USA held a 1-0 lead over Jamaica from their first-leg Concacaf quarter-final, and made sure of their progression to the semi-final with a convincing 4-2 win on Monday night. Both Weah and Weston Mckennie started for the Stars and Stripes, the latter providing teammate Christian Pulisic with a perfect cross for USA’s opener while also having a hand in his team’s second, while Weah’s super strike sealed the deal, blasting home his side’s fourth in their 5-2 aggreagte win.

Back in Europe, two Bianconeri were involved in UEFA Nations League action, with Francisco Conceicao featuring as a second-half substitute in Portugal’s 1-1 draw with Croatia, helping his side go unbeaten in their group as they march on to the quarter-finals.

The match between Croatia and Portugal ended 1-1, with the Andalusians leading at the half-hour mark of the first half and then being put back by the hosts in the middle of the second half. Space in the last 20 minutes of the match on the pitch for Francisco Conceicao, with Portugal ending Nations League Group A at 14 without having suffered a single defeat.

At the Dubocica Stadium in Leskovac, Dusan Vlahovic was named in the starting line-up as Serbia hosted Denmark. The striker played 88 minutes before being substituted due to injury, with the match ending 0-0 as the Serb’s failed to progress to the knockout rounds.
