Girelli & Pedersen decisive vs Sassuolo

Juventus Women maintained their dominant form this season by claiming a 2-1 home win against Sassuolo at Vinovo on Saturday afternoon. Cristiana Girelli and Sofie Pedersen got on the scoresheet as they stretched their run to 13 games unbeaten.

The Bianconere just needed three minutes to create their first chance, with Zamanian creating a scoring chance that saw Lemey push it over the bar. The game had a certain flair to it, and it was the hosts who were knocking on the visiting side’s door. It would be indeed be Juventus who broke the deadlock through Girelli, who tapped the ball under the onrushing goalkeeper as it rolled over the line! Both teams were moving the ball across the park with fluidity and a desire to get on the scoresheet, and it was Bonansea who would have the final chance of the half with an effort that went wide of goal from range.

Girelli came close to starting off the second half in the same manner in which she started, when she broke through on goal and sent the ball around the goalkeeper and eventually the far post. Maria Alves was then brought on in place of Zamanian in the 50th minute of the game, while Giuliani made a great save to deny Cutler. Sabatino then got onto the end of a free-kick and directed it towards goal, and once again, Giuliani proved decisive. Rita Guarino’s ladies made it 2-0 when Sofie Pedersen got onto the end of a long cross and nodded it home with great precision. Martina Rosucci then came on for Cernoia, while Staskova was also introduced with five minutes to go. Sassuolo pulled one back in the final moments of the game through Daniela Sabatino, as the Bianconere held out strong to claim the win.
