Juve through to the Coppa semis!

Juventus booked their spot into the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia after defeating Spal 4-0 at the Allianz Stadium on Wednesday evening. Alvaro Morata opened the scoring from the penalty spot, while Frabotta, Kulusevski and Chiesa got onto the scoresheet too. Juventus will meet Inter next in the tournament.

MORATA AND FRABOTTA SECURE FIRST HALF LEAD

Andrea Pirlo gave starting berths to Dragusin and Fagioli, while he also welcomed back Alex Sandro for the first time on the bench after he was cleared of Covid-19. The Bianconeri started the game looking for an early goal, and it was Morata who forced a save from Berisha with his ferocious shot in the eighth minute. They only needed a further eight minutes before finding the back of the net after Rabiot, who was initially booked for simulation in the box, but had it overturned by VAR, won a penalty. Alvaro Morata stood up to convert the ball, and he did so with absolute ease. A second goal was added in the 33rd minute when Kulusevski, who dribbled Ranieri twice, pulled back to the edge of the area where Frabotta ran onto the end of it and blazed it into the back of the net. One of Spal’s only chances of the half saw Floccari fire wide of goal, as the Bianconeri carried a 2-0 lead into the break.

KULUGOAL & CHIESA STRIKE!

Di Pardo came on in place of Bernardeschi at the start of the half, as it kicked off to a slower rhythm than that of the first half. Spal started to gain confidence with each passing minute and they pressed around the box, seeing Valoti’s shot sail into the arms of Buffon. But it was Andrea Pirlo’s men who would land up getting their name on the scoresheet in the second half after Kulusevski got onto the end of Chiesa’s ball to slot it past Berisha 12 minutes from time. Not much goalmouth action followed in the remaining minutes, but Chiesa did manage to get a fourth and final goal with his effort in the 94th minute which saw him literally walk the ball into the back of the net after the Spal backline seemingly gave up on their duties.
