Juventus went ten points clear of closest challengers Roma at the summit following Friday evening’s 2-1 victory over Atalanta in Turin, the Bianconeri’s 17th league win of the season.
But it wasn’t all plain sailing after Giulio Migliaccio’s header had given the visitors the lead on 25 minutes, only the second time this term (after October’s 3-2 triumph over Roma) that Massimiliano Allegri’s men had fallen behind on home turf in Italy’s top flight.
However, two goals in six first-half minutes produced a stirring comeback as Fernando Llorente's close-range finish, his first since scoring away at Cagliari in December, and then a sumptuous effort courtesy of Andrea Pirlo turned the game on its head ahead of the break.
And that’s how the score remained as the Maestro’s fifth career strike against Atalanta, and his third league goal of this campaign, ensuring all three points would stay at Juventus Stadium.
Here is a closer look at a pick of the numbers behind last night’s win:
Three
Lay-offs performed by both Llorente and Roberto Pereyra as the duo endeavoured to make things happen in the final third.
Four
Tackles won by Martin Caceres with the Uruguayan also teasing five crosses into the Nerazzurri mixer.
Four
Consecutive victories strung together at Juventus Stadium. Inter were the last team to come away from Turin with a result (1-1 draw back in January).
Five
Successful dribbles completed by Pereyra, the most out of any player in a black and white jersey.
Six
Good long balls threaded by Giorgio Chiellini, Pirlo and Gigi Buffon, with the skipper also performing nine recoveries (a sixth of the team’s total of 54).
40
Unbeaten league games for Juventus on home soil since losing 2-1 to Sampdoria back in January 2013 (W36, D4).
62.5%
Possession enjoyed by the hosts who spent the majority of the encounter camped in the opposition’s half, boasting a territorial advantage of 54%.
72
Successful passes completed by matchwinner Pirlo, who also created four chances, made six interceptions and touched the ball 103 times.
