Atalanta will visit the Allianz Stadium on Sunday evening to take on Juventus at 18:00 CET on what is Matchday 28 of this Serie A season for what will be the second meeting of the two sides this term, after a goalless draw back in October in Bergamo.
Looking ahead to this game by reflecting on recent meetings of the two sides, it's hard not to think about one in 2018, when the original game was postponed on the day due to heavy snowfall in Turin.
Snowfall in Turin postpones Juventus-Atalanta
As well as the game against Atalanta in 2020 that was played behind closed doors, the Bergamo-based outfit were involved in another curious meeting with Juventus. It was 25 February, 2018, Matchday 26 of that Serie A season, and the game was set for 18:00 at the Allianz Stadium, but snow bucketed down on Turin on the day, leaving the pitch covered in a white blanket. Upon arrival of the officials and the teams, pitch inspections were carried out and the game had to be postponed.
Higuain and Matuidi deliver a home win!
The match was then played two weeks later (March 14) and saw Juventus triumph 2-0 thanks to goals, one in each half, from Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi in what is the Bianconeri's most recent home win over Atalanta.
Higuain opened the scoring after some fine work from Douglas Costa, and Matuidi then doubled our lead in the second half to ensure the points stayed in Turin.
