It was on 1 June 2010 that Giuseppe Marotta was appointed to the role of general director. Just a few months later he joined the club’s Board of Directors and was named Chief Executive Officer.
The appointment marked the beginning of an unforgettable era for the Bianconeri, during which the squad was strengthened, year after year, with some of the best players in world football.
During this period, Juventus did more than just get back to winning ways. The team has won seven consecutive Scudetto titles, four Coppa Italia trophies on the bounce and three Italian Super Cups while asserting itself on the international stage, with two Champions League final appearances in three years.
Juventus’ on-field success has been the crowning achievement of a wider evolution at the club. There was the opening of Allianz Stadium in 2011, the club’s new identity unveiled last year, as well as the creation of Juventus Women, who have been successful from the outset, and the Under-23 team. These are just a few of the steps that have given the club an even more global dimension.
Marotta’s contribution at every stage of this journey will not be forgotten, nor will the lessons learned by anyone who had the privilege of working by his side.
Speaking in recent weeks, he said: “I’ve had eight wonderful years here, full of success, and Juventus will always remain in my heart.”
In much the same way, his name will always be part of the club’s history.
Thank you for everything.
