There is another new face at Juventus Women ahead of the new season with goalkeeper Ilaria Toniolo the latest new signing to join the ranks. She has put pen to paper on a contract that runs until 30 June 2025.
The 26-year-old from Camposampiero (Padua province) joins in a permanent deal after a stint in Serie B with Cittadella, where she played a key role in the side’s promotion push, which only fizzled out over the last few games of the campaign.
Prior to her recent experience in Veneto, Ilaria turned out for a range of different teams, including AGSM Verona, where she made her Serie A bow in 2014/15 and was part of the side that were crowned Italian champions at the age of just 18.
That was certainly the standout season for Toniolo to date, resulting in a call-up to a training camp with Italy U19s ahead of possibly being included in the squad for the U19 Euros. In November 2016, the shotstopper got her first call-up to the senior national team for the Manaus 2016 international tournament, with such experiences playing a pivotal role in her development pathway.
The goalkeeper is no stranger to big emotions at international level, having experienced them with the U17s. She was part of the sides that claimed bronze medals at the Euros and at the World Cup in 2014 with none other than her new team-mate, Lisa Boattin, wearing the captain’s armband.
Now it is time to embark on a new and exciting adventure with the Bianconere in order to keep improving day in, day out.
Wishing Ilaria a warm welcome!
