Juventus Women’s cup run continues after they saw off local side Juventus Torino 2-0 on Wednesday evening in Vinovo.
The Bianconere, who have also maintained their 100% start to the season, had the better of the first half with striker Simona Sodini coming close on a number of occasions.
Her first shot hit the side-netting before she swung a free-kick narrowly wide of the mark. Her third effort was blocked by the busy visiting keeper, Elisabetta Milone.
Goalless at the break, Juventus Women stepped up their search for an opener in the second half: Arianna Caruso and Aurora Galli both forced Milone into saves, while Sofia Cantore struck an excellent effort inches wide of the post.
By the 70th minute, the hosts finally found the breakthrough goal: Sanni Franssi – who had come on for Sodini not long earlier – struck low and decisively into the bottom corner.
The Bianconere nearly doubled their lead 12 minutes later, when Caruso hooked Valentina Puglisi’s cross over the bar and Franssi saw a close-range shot deflected narrowly wide.
As the clock ticked down to the final whistle, there was still time for a moment of sheer class. From outside of the area, Caruso picked up the ball and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner: the very last kick of the match!
Rita Guarino’s side can now look forward to a third round meeting against the winner between Luserna and Novese, but first they turn attentions back to league action with Saturday’s away fixture against Zaccaria (14.30 CET).
