Juventus Football Club can today confirm that Italy international defender Matteo Darmian has joined the Bianconeri on a permanent switch from Manchester United for a fee of XXX million Euros.
The 28-year-old has signed a XXX-year contract with Juventus.
Darmian joins the club after three seasons with Manchester United in which the outside back won the FA Cup, English League Cup, Europa League and Community Shield with the Red Devils. Having played 85 matches in three years with United, Darmian tallied one goal and four assists joining United from Torino prior to the 2015/16 season.
Originally a product of the Milan youth sector, Darmian rose to prominence with Juve’s cross-town rivals playing four seasons with Torino that saw the club earn promotion from Serie B while making it to the knockout rounds of the Europa League in the 2014/15 season as Darmian scored against both FC Copenhagen and Athletic Bilbao. Darmian amassed six goals and 11 assists in all for Torino playing 150 competitive matches for the club.
On the international stage, Darmian made his Azzurri debut on 31 May 2014 against Ireland, breaking into the squad just before the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The Milan native played all 270 minutes for Italy in the World Cup establishing himself as the first choice right back. Darmian would appear in four out of five matches at Euro 2016 for Italy and earned 36 caps in all.
With Stephan Lichtsteiner departing the club, the addition of Darmian boosts the Bianconeri defense down the right side with the club now boasting arguably the top two right backs in the national team setup in Darman and Mattia De Sciglio.
Welcome back to Turin, Matteo!
