MONTEMURRO AND GAMA: GREAT EMOTION PLAYING AT THE ALLIANZ

A thrilling fixture awaits under the Allianz Stadium lights as Juventus prepare to host English opponents Chelsea in their UEFA Women’s Champions League Group Stage encounter on Wednesday evening.

The Bianconere shone on Matchday 1 with a superb 3-0 away victory against Servette in Switzerland, while Wednesday’s English opponents began their campaign with a 3-3 draw at home to German group rivals Wolfsburg.

Chelsea will prove a tough challenge, with coach Joe Montemurro and captain Sara Gama looking forward to tomorrow’s clash.

Here’s what the Mister and skipper had to say ahead of the match:

JOE MONTEMURRO

"I have an important squad, I want everyone to feel important, not just the eleven who play from the start. We believe in our game, this match must be approached with courage.

"For us, staying at this level is fundamental, tomorrow we will understand where we are and where we can grow. To do this, we must come up against the greatest.

"In every match we make some small adjustment because we study the strengths and weaknesses of the other teams, but it is important to remember the basis of our play and read the moments. I think those who read these moments will win.

"Agnese Bonfantini is an important player, who, in my opinion, will be one of the best in Italy. I wanted to focus on her immediately, now she has to find some continuity and self-esteem.

"Tomorrow will be a spectacular match between two teams who want to play at the highest level. You will see some of the best female players in the world, and I hope it is a splendid manifesto for the growth of women's football.

“I am very excited to play at the Allianz. I want to thank the club for allowing us to play this game here. It will remain with me for the rest of my life.

"The Italian league is very tactical and I think it is a growing league that can reach a very high level. I am happy with the staff who work with me."

SARA GAMA

"We are at the eve of an important match. You have to focus on the details, which are important in games of this level. We also have great enthusiasm and are ready to put on a show.

"A lot has changed since the Première against Fiorentina. The growth is exponential, but the club's commitment hasn't changed. We have done a lot and now we want to enjoy this group and go as far as possible. The gap has narrowed.

"We have won these type of matches. This group is beautiful and we want to play it to the end. We are focused on experiencing this great challenge tomorrow. We have studied Chelsea a lot, it will be a high-level match.

"It is not a cliché to say that all the Chelsea players are important, not just a single player. And this is fundamental, considering that we have great matches ahead of us and we have already played many.

"Playing at the Allianz Stadium certainly gives us special emotions, but we have been working on this for years. Tomorrow there will be only great emotions of playing here.”
