On Both Sides | Bologna-Juventus

This Sunday, Juventus are expected at the Renato Dall'Ara on Serie A Matchday 32. Over the years many players have worn both the shirts of Bologna and Juventus, a situation summed up perfectly by the photo in the background.

It is the showdown in 2003 and the two players are Juventus forward Marco Di Vaio and Bologna defender Michele Paramatti - both of whom would turn out for the two clubs.

ANTONIO CABRINI & GIANLUCA LUPPI

In the above photo from Bologna-Juventus in season 1990/91, two defenders that gave their best when performing for the other club face each other on the wing.

In the red and blue shirt, Antonio Cabrini, the World Cup-winning full-back who wrote an era with Juve. In the black and white stripes, meanwhile, is Gianluca Luppi. After six years at Bologna, Luppi swapped home, from the iconic two towers that dominate Bologna town centre to the Mole, the memorable monument at the heart of Turin.

ROBERTO BAGGIO

Bologna-Juventus in season 1990/91 was decided by a Roberto Baggio penalty kick. For the number 10 it was the first year with the Bianconeri.

Instead, Baggio played only one season with the Rossoblu, in 1997/98. It was a year that relaunched his career and which earned him a call-up to the World Cup in France.

GIANLUCA PESSOTTO

After spending his early years at Varese and Massese, Gianluca Pessotto took the step up to Serie B with Bologna in season 1992/93.

Three years later he was snapped by Juventus, where he would become one of the symbols of the side, collecting more than 300 appearances in the black and white stripes.

STEPHEN APPIAH

Of the many players to have played on both sides, Stephen Appiah's is not the first name the springs to mind. The Ghanaian played for Juventus for two years, from 2003 to 2005.

After plying his trade in Turkey, the midfielder returned to Italy, desination Bologna, with whom he managed just two appearances.
