A tough trip away to Florence awaits on Sunday evening as Juventus prepare to line up against Fiorentina at 20:45 CET.
Let's have a look at what shape our opponents are in ahead of this weekend's showdown:
CURRENT FORM
- After an unbeaten run that lasted five games (W4, D1), Fiorentina have lost their two most recent Serie A games, without scoring any goals. La Viola have not suffered three defeats in a row without scoring a goal since May 2019 (four in that case).
- Fiorentina failed to score in their last home Serie A match (0-2 against Empoli) and have not been without a goal for two home games in a row in the competition since April-May 2019 (five in that case).
GENERAL STATS
- Fiorentina is one of the two teams with the lowest PPDA level in the league (10.9, like Lecce), proving to be one of the two that press the most. PPDA is the ratio between the opponent's passes allowed outside their defensive midfield and the number of defensive actions outside their defensive midfield, a low number indicates a high level of pressing and vice versa - Juventus instead has the fourth highest figure (15.9).
- Fiorentina is the team that has scored the most headed goals in this championship, six, double that of their opponents on the day; broadening the spectrum to 2023 and the top five European championships, no team did better than the Viola (13, like Freiburg, Brest and Union Berlin). La Viola is both the team that has scored the most goals in the first 15 minutes of play in this championship (five), and the one that has scored the most goals in the first half (12, only less than PSG with 14 in the top five European leagues). In fact, considering the ranking only in the first half of the game, the Viola would be in third position with 20 points, behind Inter (22) and Milan (21).
PLAYER FOCUS
- Nicolás González has already scored five goals in nine matches this season, just one less than he did in 24 appearances in 2022/23 and two fewer than in 33 matches in 2021/22.
- Juventus is one of the two teams, together with Empoli, against which Christian Kouamé has scored two goals in Serie A (one with Fiorentina in 2022, one with Genoa in 2019.
- Alfred Duncan has already provided three assists in nine league appearances, as many as he achieved in 81 games between 2020/21 and 2022/23; the Viola midfielder scored a goal against Juventus, in his last home match against the Bianconeri in Serie A (21/05/2022), only against Sampdoria and Atalanta did he manage to participate in at least one goal for two home games in a row in the competition.
- Giacomo Bonaventura, who has already been involved in six goals in 10 appearances in this championship (four goals, two assists), equaling his score from last Serie A (five goals and a winning pass in 30 games), is close to being involved in 100 goals in Serie A (currently 99, thanks to 60 goals and 39 assists) – among the teams he has never scored against in Serie A, Juventus is the one the Viola midfielder has faced the most times (18).
- In his last five league appearances (four in this Serie A, one in the last) Jonathan Ikoné has not been involved in a single goal; the Viola player hasn't done worse in the competition since the period between January and February 2023 (seven in that case, with the sixth against Juventus).
- Among the teams against which he has not yet scored in Serie A, Juventus is the one against which M'Bala Nzola has played the most games in Serie A (five); the Viola striker has been caught offside nine times in this championship, no player has more offsides (nine also for Victor Osimhen).
