OPPOSITION FOCUS | SASSUOLO

Sassuolo welcome Juventus to the Mapei Stadium sitting in 10th place. The team from Emilia's 46 points are shared equally home and away. However, the Neroverdi are enjoying a positive period in front of their own fans, where they are unbeaten since mid-January.

The run of four matches without loss includes a draw with Roma, and wins over Fiorentina, Spezia and most recently Atalanta.

Alessio Dionisi, in his debut season in the top flight, guided Sassuolo to their one and only victory at the Allianz Stadium on 27 October 2021. In Reggio Emilia, Sassuolo have also defeated Juve just once, while the five defeats suffered against the Bianconeri is the highest number of home losses against a single opponent in Serie A.

Last weekend, Dionisi's side were defeated 1-0 at Walter Mazzarri's Cagliari.

TEAM FOCUS

  • Sassuolo have won their last three Serie A home games and have never collected four consecutive home wins in their history in the top flight, but have not kept a clean sheet at home since September 26th. Since then, they have conceded 23 goals in the 13 fixtures at the Mapei Stadium.
  • Sassuolo are second only to Lazio for the percentage of shots on target this season (51% to 54%), while Juventus are third from last in this category with 43%.
  • Sassuolo's matches in the second half of this championship are those that have seen the most shots. Of the 443 total, 233 have come from the Neroverdi, 210 from their opponents. What’s more, these shots have produced the highest number of goals scored, 50 - 28 of them for Sassuolo.
  • Sassuolo have scored with 10 different players in this league campaign, equalling their lowest number of scorers in a Serie A season (10 also in 2013/14 and in 2014/15).

PLAYER FOCUS

  • Hamed Traorè (18 goals and 7 assists in Serie A) is one of only six midfielders born since 2000 to have taken part in at least 25 goals in the top five European leagues, together with Jadon Sancho, Dejan Kulusevski, Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka and Florian Wirtz.
  • One goal in 10 Serie A matches against Juventus for Domenico Berardi (on 15 July 2020 at the Mapei Stadium) is the wideman’s lowest return against teams he has played at least 10 times against.
  • That said, Berardi has provided 11 assists this season. The last frontman to do better in Serie A was José Callejón in 2016/17, with 12.
  • After having scored for three games in a row, Gianluca Scamacca has failed to find the net in his last three league outings. The centre forward hasn’t gone four consecutive games without a goal since October-November 2021 (one of which was against Juventus).
  • In match day 33 at Cagliari, Filip Djuricic returned to the field after a 175-day absence in Serie A. The Neroverdi’s number 10 has already scored against Juventus in the top flight, in the 3-3 draw on 15 July 2020.
