PRESS ROOM | Comments after Genoa-Juventus

Coach Thiago Motta, Dusan Vlahovic and Teun Koopmeiners spoke to the press after Juventus’ 3-0 victory over Genoa at Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

COACH THIAGO MOTTA’S COMMENTS

“We are happy with the victory. The attacking play was better in the second half. After we took the lead, with the really strong players we have, the opponents struggled to get back into the game. They had to try and attack and press us, and we continued to play well going forward in the right way. Everyone put in a good performance. I'm happy with those who were on the bench, they supported their teammates with enthusiasm throughout the match. We have a strong group that can become even stronger together. Still yet to concede? That's an important statistic, it shows that we have a solid team. We defend as a team. Today we didn't concede any goals, we defended well together and sacrificed a lot, helping each other in difficult moments. Vlahovic? Dusan is a good leader. He wants to compete, he always gives his all in training and in matches and I am happy with his two goals today.”

DUSAN VLAHOVIC’S THOUGHTS

“Happy with the two goals? Of course, but the most important thing is that we won and we want to continue to do so. I always give 100 per cent in everything, I'm calm and always give my best on the pitch. For a forward when you don't score it's difficult, it's normal, but today I scored two goals and I'm very happy with the result. As I said before, though, the only thing that counts is winning, not who scores. [Francisco] Conceicao? I’m very happy for him. He is settling in very well, but he has just arrived so it takes time. He can already speak Italian but, being a perfectionist, he still speaks mainly Portuguese, however we understand each other perfectly. He is very strong, he is giving us a big boost. We missed him when he wasn't with us because of his injury, now I hope he will provide many assists for me (laughs).”

TEUN KOOPMEINERS’ REACTION

“It was a game of two halves. I think that in the first half we controlled the game, but we didn't have too many chances. In the second half, on the other hand, we changed our midfielders and positions: I was closer to Dusan and it worked better and maybe it also made it easier for him at certain points in the match. I am very happy that we were then able to create chances and convert them. When you have the ball and Vlahovic runs in behind you have to try and find him. He is very good at that and he deserved to score. I'm also very happy with Francisco's (Conceicao) first goal because he works hard and trains well and this was a great comeback after a few games out. We are happy to return home with the three points, but we are aware that we can still do better. I can say, however, that we’re on the right track.”
