Press room | Pirlo speaks after Atalanta v Juve

A tight contest between Atalanta and Juventus on Sunday afternoon looked set to end goal-less, but a deflected shot from Ruslan Malinovskiy with just minutes on the clock earned the home side all three points. Speaking after the defeat, here’s what coach Andrea Pirlo had to say about proceedings.

ANDREA PIRLO

“We put in a good display against a strong side, playing the game we needed to – focused and aggressive. However, the key moments went in their favour, with the late goal – it’s a shame because we could have taken at least a point from the game. We knew what kind of game we were in for – when you’re up against Atalanta you face battles all over the pitch and I think we dealt well with that, managing to keep possession well at times. [Paulo] Dybala played excellently, for as long as his body could manage. He didn’t have 90 minutes in him but while he was out there he did well. Now we have to focus on ourselves and win as many games as possible to get into the Champions League. If we play like we did today, with this spirit, I'm convinced we won't have any problems in the rest of the league campaign.”
