Juventus’ Primavera booked their place in the last eight of the Viareggio Cup courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Crotone on Wednesday afternoon.
The winning goal would arrive as early as the sixth minute, when Francesco Cassata laid off the ball for Grigoris Kastanos to sweep home with a left-footed strike inside the near post.
Upon falling behind, Crotone reacted strongly and almost found an immediate equaliser, Daniele Pupa forcing Mattia Del Favero into a smart save.
Then after the break, Juve’s Spanish full-back Pol Lirola produced heroics blocking Giuseppe Faiello’s shot on the goal-line.
But the Bianconeri held firm to make sure of sealing three valuable points, taking their tally in the group to six following Monday’s win over Deportivo Camioneros, and thus qualification to the quarter-final stage.
Before then, however, they have one final fixture pencilled in for Saturday, L.I.A.C. New York providing the opposition that day at 15.00 CET.
