Danilo returned to the starting line-up as Brazil put on a show at Stadium 974 in Doha to reach the World Cup quarter-finals. The Seleçao defeated South Korea 4-1 in the last-16 with all four Brazilian goals scored in an explosive half-hour spell in the first half.
The victory sets up a quarter-final with 2018 runners-up Croatia, who defeated Japan on penalties in the earlier match.
THE MATCH
With both Neymar and Danilo recovering from injuries sustained in Matchday 1 against Serbia, it was a buoyed Brazil that took to the pitch against South Korea.
Having previously displayed a solid defence, for the first time in the tournament the Seleçao showed their prowess in attack. Vinícius Júnior opened the scoring on seven minutes with a composed finish. Six minutes later Neymar dispatched a spot kick after a foul in the area on Richarlison, who added goal number three, with another spectacular finish, just before the half hour. Lucas Paquetá drilled home a volley on 36' to complete round off Brazil's scoring.
South Korea struck a consolation on 76'. Four minutes earlier Bremer had replaced his Bianconeri teammate in the Brazil defence for his second consecutive outing at Qatar 2022.
