Aaron Ramsey’s Wales kicked off their Euro 2020 campaign with a 1-1 draw against Switzerland in Baku. Following a goalless first half, Ramsey, who played 90 minutes at the Baku Olimpiya Stadionu, saw his side fall behind to a Breel Embolo goal just four minutes into the second period. However, Wales rallied and grabbed an equaliser in the 74th minute when Kieffer Moore headed in Joe Morrell’s cross.
Wales are next in action in Group A when they take on Merih Demiral’s Turkey on 16th June, once again in Baku. Tonight, instead sees Matthijs de Ligt’s Netherlands make their Euro 2020 bow against Ukraine at the Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam.
Elsewhere across the other side of the world, the Copa América begins in Brazil at 23:00 CEST. The tournament will see four Bianconeri involved, and the first match has the Selecao featuring Danilo and Alex Sandro play Venezuela at the Estadio Nacional de Brasilia. Into the early hours of tomorrow morning, Juan Cuadrado’s Colombia play Ecuador at the Arena Pantanal.
