Marco Storari says the Bianconeri’s determination to end a 20-year Coppa Italia exile was the driving force behind tonight’s late quarter-final triumph over Parma at the Tardini.
“You can also see how much this competition means to us from the starting line-up put out by the manager. It’s a long time since this club lifted the Coppa Italia. We were a little flat at the start and had a few issues with our finishing, but we wanted a spot in the semi-finals and that’s what we’v come away with.”
A dogged Gialloblu side, who stuck to their task throughout, made life difficult for the reigning champions but the goalkeeper believes the substitutions made by Massimiliano Allegri enabled Juventus to shift up a gear with the tie hanging in the balance.
He continued: “Great credit goes to Parma who in spite of their various off-field difficulties put in a great performance.”
“Every player who comes on during the game manages to give us something extra – that’s our strength. That’s how big teams win.”
