FINO ALLA FINE
It’s more than just a rallying cry and we saw that once again on Saturday night at the San Siro. Time and again this season when it seemed the situation was bleak for the Bianconeri, they’ve dug deep and turned it around.
Had Juventus not won on Saturday night, they would’ve lost control of their own destiny in the title race, but they’ll head into Sunday night’s fixtures with a four point lead at the top.
What a comeback. What a moment. What a statement.
TWO GOALS. THREE MINUTES.
It was an incredible turnaround and it all happened in the blink of an eye. Almost out of nothing, Paulo Dybala played through Juan Cuadrado and while there was a hint of fortune in the goal, taking a big deflection off Skriniar, you can’t score if you don’t create the chances!
Juve didn’t rest on the equalizer, however, and almost instantly had a dangerous free kick drawn by a foul on Bernardeschi. The rest….history.
CUADRADO ON BOTH ENDS
Massimiliano Allegri sprung a change to the lineup on Saturday putting Juan Cuadrado at right back, a move that Cuadrado said after the match he had been preparing for all week. After picking up an early yellow card, Cuadrado settled in well doing a good job in limiting the Inter attack.
After the Bianconeri would fall behind, Cuadrado pushed up into the attack providing an extra force and doing the work to create the 87th minute Skriniar own goal that pulled Juventus level.
SUPER SUBS
Allegri had plenty of firepower on the bench on Saturday night and he used it to good effect bringing in Paulo Dybala in the 61st minute, Federico Bernardeschi in the 66th and Rodrigo Bentancur in the 80th. All three players would play big roles in the Juventus comeback with Dybala sliding the ball through to Cuadrado on Juve’s second goal and playing the expert free kick onto the head of Gonzalo Higuain for the match-winner.
Bernardeschi ended up drawing the foul that led to Higuain’s goal while Bentancur did great work keeping the ball alive in the build-up to Juve’s second goal.
THE SCUDETTO RACE
The all-important three points for Juve mean the Bianconeri take a four-point lead into Sunday night’s encounter between Fiorentina and Napoli.
Should the Partenopei stutter in Florence, Juve could ensure a seventh consecutive Scudetto with two wins in their final three matches while, with this result, we know that the Bianconeri will remain in control of their own destiny heading into the final month of the season.
