Like every year, everyone close to the events at Heysel on the night of 29 May 1985 pay their respects to commemorate the 39 people that lost their lives.
Today, two events took place in the Belgian capital, 33 years after the European Cup final between Juventus and Liverpool to honour those lost. Firstly, there was a procession held this morning at the former Heysel stadium, now King Baudouin Stadium where a wreath of flowers were placed in front of a memorial plaque to honour the 39 fans.
Then to follow, at the European Parliament a meeting was held dedicated to safety in sporting events.
The initiative promoted by MEP Alberto Cirio, who was in attendance to accompany the Juventus banner carried by Gianluca Pessotto, Primavera Team Manager and Paolo Garimberti, President of Juventus Museum. Also participating were Andrea Lorentini, President of the Heidelist Family Association and Beppe Franzo, President of the Quelli Association of Via Filadelfia, along with spectators of that night and a representation of Juventus supporters.
