So without much further ado, lets cast a quick glance over heartbeat of the side Joao Moutinho, tricky winger Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco and silky customer Dimitar Berbatov.
Name: Joao Moutinho
Age: 28*
Position:* Central midfielder
Firm fan favourite Joao Moutinho is Monaco’s midfield metronome.
The 28-year-old, who won eight major titles during his time with former side Porto, joined the club in 2013 alongside fellow big-name signings James Rodriguez and Radamel Falcao after Monaco made their return to the top flight.
With that South American duo now plying its trade at Real Madrid and Manchester United respectively, Moutinho has stepped up to the plate this season, notching three goals and six assists in 39 appearances in all competitions.
His versatility is a key asset to Leonardo Jardim’s men, and due to his box-to-box dynamism and tremendous determination, the Portuguese international really makes the Ligue 1 outfit tick.
Moutinho will have to keep his wits about him this evening though, because if he were to pick up a booking in Turin, he would miss next week’s return leg at the Stade Louis II.
Name: Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco*
Age: 21
Position:* Attacking midfielder
Nimble winger Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco is an up and coming star.
The 21-year-old, who made his senior debut for Belgium against Cyprus during the recent international break, is of Portuguese and Spanish descent.
Blessed with pace, dribbling and expert crossing ability, Ferreira-Carrasco strikes fear into opposition defenders’ hearts.
The 5ft 11in attacker has enjoyed a fine term due to his imposing presence on either wing, managing to register six goals and nine assists across four competitions.
Ferreira-Carrasco was also on target in Monaco’s 3-1 Champions League last 16 first leg victory over Arsenal in February, with his strike ultimately proving the decisive away goal in the tie.
Name: Dimitar Berbatov*
Age:* 34*
Position:* Supporting striker/Forward
Veteran Dimitar Berbatov has enjoyed a trophy-laden career.
The seven-time Bulgarian footballer of the year has played for a variety of European giants including CSKA Sofia, Bayer Leverkusen and Manchester United, winning six honours with the latter.
An elegant scorer of some fine goals, Berbatov has been lauded for his footballing intelligence, technical ability and composure, and was once likened to Red Devils legend Eric Cantona by Sir Alex Ferguson.
The deep-lying centre forward likes receiving passes to feet and is also an aerial threat from set-pieces, proving that he is a complete attacking talent.
One for pub quiz fanatics, Berbatov played alongside Bianconeri trio Patrice Evra, Paul Pogba and Carlos Tevez during his time with England’s most successful club.
