Ciro Immobile struck twice in the second half to send Borussia Dortmund into the DFB-Pokal Cup quarter-finals with last night’s 2-0 away triumph over third-tier Dynamo Dresden.
Hampered by a difficult surface, Jurgen Klopp’s men found it tough to play their traditional brand of flowing football but took the lead five minutes into the restart when the Italian capitalised on Michael Hefele’s misplaced pass to run through and score.
Any late jitters were eased when Immobile made it two on the stroke of the final whistle, converting Jakub Blaszczykowski’s cutback to continue Dortmund’s progression in the domestic competition.
