The Champions League groups have been defined and Juventus will face Chelsea, Zenit and Malmö. With a new European adventure set to start soon, we uncover our latest opponents.
CHELSEA
Chelsea are the reigning European champions, as well as the European Super Cup on 11 August, where they defeated Villareal on penalties in the final in Belfast. The Blues, led by Thomas Tuchel, recently kicked off their Premier League campaign, where they recorded victories over Arsenal and Crystal Palace with five goals scored and 0 conceded. Both Juventus and Chelsea have met on four occasions, registering one victory each and two draws. The Blues won and drew in the 2008/09 Round of 16; while the Bianconeri recorded a draw and win in the 2012/13 group stage.
ZENIT
Last season, Zenit won their third consecutive Russian league title, while this year they won the Russian Super Cup (the second in a row) by defeating Lokomotiv Moscow 3-0. Juventus are unbeaten in their previous two matches against Zenit in the Champions League (1W, 1D), both in the 2008/09 group stage. They also kept a clean sheet in these two fixtures.
MALMÖ
Juventus' third opponent is last season’s Swedish champions, Malmö, who topped the table nine points clear. Juventus won both matches 2-0 against Malmö in the Champions League during the 2014/15 group stage.
