Arturo Vidal believes there is little to choose between the Bianconeri and upcoming Champions League quarter-final opponents Monaco, claiming both sides have a “50 per cent chance” of progressing through to the next round.
The Chilean revealed the reaction in the dressing room was one of focus and says the mindset will have to remain the same if Juventus are to overcome their next European hurdle.
Speaking at the training ground in Vinovo, Vidal said: “We were in the dressing room when they told us. We didn’t celebrate, because we know it will be an evenly-matched affair, in which both sides have a 50 per cent chance of going through. Now there are just eight of us left in the competition and we need to be extremely focused.”
The team’s place amongst Europe’s top eight was sealed with Wednesday night’s stunning 3-0 win over Dortmund, a success that came about thanks to a “brilliant team performance” in the eyes of Vidal.
“We were delighted with the result. We played brilliantly in a difficult game. These are the kinds of victories that help us a great deal, the evening was almost perfect.”
Sunday brings the next dose of Serie A action and Vidal is urging the team to exorcise the demons of their only league loss of the season to date by overcoming Genoa at Juventus Stadium.
“We need to stay alert because we have to claim our fourth Scudetto. In addition we must turn the tables on Genoa after suffering our only league defeat of the season against them.”
