It was an evening full of emotions for the Bianconeri involved with their national teams.
Beginning with the most recent match of the night, the USA took on Mexico in Cincinnati, Ohio for their World Cup qualifier. America won the game 2-0 thanks to Christian Pulisic's strike in the 74th minute, before Weston McKennie wrapped the game up 10 minutes later.
Moving onto South America, there was a Bianconeri derby in Montevideo, as Rodrigo Bentancur's Uruguay took on Paulo Dybala's and Matias Soulè's Argentina. There were starts for both Bentancur and Dybala, whilst Soulè wasn't involved, in what was his first-ever call-up to the senior squad. It was to be Dybala's Argentina who would emerge victorious in the derby, 1-0, after La Joya's assist on Angel Di Maria's splendid goal.
Heading back to Europe, Wojciech Szczesny's Poland emerged victorious 4-1 away to Andorra. "Tek" played the full game in goal for Poland, who got off to a 2-0 lead inside 15 minutes following Robert Lewandowski and Kamil Jozwiak strikes. Marc Pujol pulled a goal back for the hosts just before half-time, however a Arkadiusz Milik goal and a second for Bayern Munich's Lewandowski secured the victory.
Finally, European Champions, Italy were held to a 1-1 draw by Switzerland in Rome, as Silvan Widmer's 11th minute strike was cancelled out by Giovanni Di Lorenzo's 36th minute equaliser. Chelsea's Jorginho had the chance to win the match and secure Italy's World Cup qualification in the 90th minute but missed his late spot-kick, that will now see the Azzurri try to finish the job away in Northern Ireland next Monday. Both Leonardo Bonucci and Federico Chiesa played the full game at the Stadio Olimpico, whilst Manuel Locatelli was replaced after 58 minutes, with Federico Bernardeschi remaining on the bench.
Tonight, current World Cup holders, France face Kazakhstan at home, with Adrien Rabiot in the squad. Aaron Ramsey's Wales host Belarus and Matthijs de Ligt’s Netherlands visit Montenegro.
