Women international Recap | A brace for Beerensteyn

December 1, 2023 was a day full of activity for the Bianconere involved with their national teams.

NATIONS LEAGUE

It was a good goalscoring day for Lineth Beerensteyn, who scored a brace for the Netherlands in the Nations League, yet it was not enough to get the better of England, who won 3-2. The Dutch remained top of the group however, with one match left to play in the Group A1.

The Azzurre sprung a surprise in Spain, with a memorable 2-3 win at the home of the World Champions. Giacinti, Cambiaghi and Linari were the scorers in a match that saw Caruso, Lenzini and Boattin on the pitch from the first minute, with Cantore and Salvai coming on during the game. The Italians are now back in second place, tied with Sweden, with one fixture left against Switzerland to conclude Group A4.

Peyraud-Magnin kept a clean sheet with France, who beat Austria 3-0 to seal their top spot in Group A2.

Sliskovic was on the pitch from the first minute for Bosnia-Herzegovina who were defeated 2-1 in Slovenia, but however remain top of their group.

Finally, there was a 1-0 defeat for the Swedish duo of Sembrant and Nilden - the former starting, the latter a substitute - against Switzerland, Italy's next opponent.

YOUTH

Italy Under-23 won their friendly against Belgium 1-0, with Bellucci on the pitch during the match. Also in friendly action was Nystrom's Sweden Under 23s, who lost 4-1 against Spain, while Italy's Under-19s lost their test against Austria 0-2. Finally, two goals were scored by Juve duo Ferraresi and Volpini in Italy's Under-17 5-0 friendly victory over Finland.
