It's Matchday 2 in Serie A Femminile, but the first in the new home of Juventus Women. Today, The Bianconere take on Sampdoria in Biella in front of a sold-out stadium.
It will be the fifth time that the two teams face each other, two of which took place at the home of the Bianconere, who have won all their previous ties against Sunday's opposition.
Today we look back on how the very first Juventus Women-Sampdoria encounter played out.
STARTING LINE-UP
Juventus versus Sampdoria took place at Vinovo on 3 April 2022 with the following starting eleven, chosen by Coach Joe Montemurro: Peyraud-Magnin; Hyyrynen, Gama, Lenzini, Nilden; Zamanian, Grosso; Bonfantini, Caruso, Bonansea; Girelli.
AN OPEN GAME
The two teams took on each other from the start. The result was an entertaining match, with Juve breaking the deadlock just before the half-hour mark. Hito Zamanian curved in a corner to the far post where Cristiana Girelli was ready to pounce, putting the ball into the back of the net.
ANOTHER CORNER
Only three minutes passed before the Bianconere doubled their lead, again from a corner. Zamanian puts in a cross which the Blucerchiati fail to deal with, as the ball lands at the feet of Barbara Bonansea who makes no mistake to double the hosts' lead.
A THIRD FROM THE PENALTY SPOT
In the second half, in the 72nd minute, Arianna Caruso had the opportunity to increase the lead from the spot, converting a penalty kick and allowing the home side to comfortably see out the game, despite a late goal by the visitors. Final score: Juventus 3, Sampdoria 1.
