The quarter-finals of the 2023 Women's World Cup saw three of our Bianconere involved, with Linda Sembrant, Lineth Beerensteyn and Pauline Peyraud-Magnin all having made it to the last eight with their respective nations. Now, with France still waiting to take on co-hosts Australia, we have one Juventus Women player already with her semi-final ticket booked.
Linda Sembrant and Sweden came out on top of Japan in their quarter-final, advancing at the expense of the Asian side with a hard-fought 2-1 win. Sweden went two goals up, only for Japan to battle back and put the Europeans under immense pressure towards the end.
Earlier, Lineth Beerensteyn and the Netherlands' journey came to an end at the hands of Spain. Having fallen behind to a late Mariona Caldentey penalty, the Dutch forced extra time through a Stefanie van der Gragt header in stoppage time. Salma Paralluelo scored the winner in extra time to send Spain into the final four.
