We have won the Coppa Italia 13 times, and it all started in 1938.
As we approach the final between Juventus and Atalanta, let's rediscover some of the reasons why the Italian Cup is a competition we particularly care about.
1 BECAUSE IT IS ONE MORE CUP
Even if the captain changes, our happiness does not. The feeling of bringing yet another trophy to the Juventus Museum, is still priceless.
2 BECAUSE WINNING THE CUP IS OFTEN ACCOMPANIED BY ANOTHER
1960, 1995 and the four in a row from 2015 to 2018: on six circumstances the Italian Cup was accompanied by that of a Scudetto victory. It's a beautiful pairing that underlines an evident period of total supremacy.
3 THE FIRST TO TEN
In 2015, the Bianconeri became the first team to achieve 10 Italian Cup victories.
4 MATRI'S LAST GAME
The 10th Italian Cup victory came courtesy of Alessandro Matri, who wrapped up his experience with Juventus with a decisive goal. Not a bad way to finish off one's time at the club.
5 SEIZING THE MOMENT
Like Matri, Morata came off the bench and scored in extra time. The only thing different? The opponent. He scored against Milan, and Alessandro against Lazio. Two perfect examples of what it means to seize the moment when it's needed.
6 BECAUSE THE BEST DEFENSE IS THE ATTACK
There is a long tradition of defenders scoring in the final. From Bonucci and Dani Alves in 2017 to Benatia, Porrini, Brio, and Cervato: these backliners have all left their mark in this tournament.
7 FOUR GOALS IN THE FINAL
There are two finals against the Milanese sides in which the Lady scored four goals. In 1959 at San Siro against Inter, and in 2018, our latest triumph was at the Olimpico with four goals scored against Milan.
8 DINO'S EMOTIONS
For all those who - reasonably - think of Dino Zoff as a monument of imperturbability, it may be a surprise to have seen his emotion during the 1990 Cup final. The trophy was conquered against world champions Milan, with the victory dedicated to a friend who passed away that year: Gaetano Scirea.
9 FOR THE SIGNS ALONG THE WAY
The final captures the fans' attention, but also the matches that precede it contains certain signs. A top example: Michel Platini. His first goal for Juventus took place in the Italian Cup. As they say, the rest is history.
10 BALLON D'ORO
1983 final: Juve beat Verona with goals from Paolo Rossi and Michel Platini. In that match, Rossi was the current Ballon d'Or winner, while Platini was the victor in waiting.
11 FOR THAT INFINITE CHALLENGE
Do you remember 1995? Juve-Parma was everywhere. In the league: we won the Scudetto. In the Uefa Cup: they triumphed. Finally, the Coppa Italia, with double victories at the Delle Alpi and at the Tardini, we took home the trophy.
12 BECAUSE YOU CAN WITH 10 MEN
There is never a foregone verdict in a final. Take the 1979 final for example: Juve against Palermo. The Rosanero were ahead, while the Bianconeri were reduced to 10 men due to Bettega's injury. Nonetheless, goals from Brio and Causio overturned the result.
13 FOR THE CHALLENGES VS ATALANTA
The match against Atalanta on Wednesday evening will be the seventeenth time we meet in the Italian Cup. Among the most curious appointments is that of 1960: after six penalties each - at that time they could only be kicked by one player on each side - all were scored, and the Lady won with the toss of the coin.
