"Racism and discrimination in football is no secret, but their impact in the every day life is harmful. Although much has already been done, observers and experts believe that there too many problems still remain, and that the measures taken to combat them have not been sufficient."
These words, published in 2015 and taken from the UNESCO report "Colour? What Colour? " on the fight against discrimination and racism in football, are still significant.
The recent cases, which take place in the stadiums, present a clear and alarming picture: racism and discrimination, in all its forms, represent, in fact, a grave and still unresolved cultural scourge.
For this reason, Juventus, aware of its role as a football company, has renewed its commitment on the subject, which was confirmed today, December 10 - World Human Rights Day. This is a renewed and unpublished version of the project "Un Calcio a Razzismo" (A Kick To Racism)
The educational project recognized by the Regional Scholastic Office, and dedicated to secondary schools in Piedmont, is a free, modular and interactive educational path, composed of three self-contained lessons:
- Which race? To break up and overcome the concept of race
- Equal and different. To reflect on how Prejudices and Stereotypes are born
- I speak... and do not discriminate. To understand the value of words and how they can become a means of discrimination.
The goal is to make the younger generations more aware and responsible for the language adopted, through training activities and moments of play.
Through the support of teachers and the involvement of families, boys and girls will be invited to trace, at the end of the journey, the line which should never be crossed: the clear and distinct boundary between respect and any unacceptable discriminatory behavior.
"A Kick To Racism" is part of the Juventus Goals' scope of action and completes the Education pillar together with Fair People, the educational proposal developed for schools with the aim of raising a young generation of people who want to live in respect towards others and themselves. In addition, the Juventus For Special @ School, the sports and inclusion project that puts students in contact with the athletes of the Juventus For Special team, will break down together preconceptions and discrimination related to disability.
Combating racism and discrimination is a commitment that requires sustained and combined efforts by all parties involved: for this reason Juventus is available to converse and to share with all stakeholders interested in the project, in order for this to be replicated and can involve as many girls and boys as possible.
